The Annual PDC Family Potluck Picnic and Auction will be held at a new location- Cuesta Park, 615 Cuesta Dr, Mountain View, from 4:00-7:00 pm, on August 19th. We are at the group barbecue area by the volleyball court and restrooms.

Join other Democrats and your favorite Democratic legislators for an afternoon of fun, food, silent auction, and fellowship for the whole family. The guest speaker is Delaine Eastin. Delaine is currently a gubernatorial candidate for California. Delaine was a volunteer public interest advocate and speaker, recently serving as board president of Close the Gap CA and as a member of several other boards. Delaine began her career as a women's studies and political science professor at several community colleges. She became an accountant and corporate planner for Pacific Telephone. Delaine was elected as a Union City council member, served four terms as a state assembly member, and two terms as State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Her accomplishments as superintendent include the 1995 Garden In Every School to start 3,000 school gardens and increasing annual school funding by $2.3 billion to reduce K-3 class sizes from 30 to 20 students in 98% of CA schools. She served as Executive Director of the National Institute of Educational Leadership from 2002 to 2005. Until 2008, Delaine taught courses at Mills College in public policy, education administrative theory, education leadership, and politics.
