Subject: June Primary Election News
April 01, 2014
It has been a difficult few weeks for the Democratic Party in California with a third Democratic State Senator charged with serious crimes. In the wake of the recent arrest of Senator Leland Yee, a representative of San Mateo County, the State Senate has taken the extraordinary step of suspending Senator Yee, as well as Senators Rod Wright and Ron Calderon.
As Chair of the San Mateo County Democratic Party, I invite local Democrats to attend the April 17, 2014 General Meeting to discuss these recent events.
State Convention and Endorsements
Democrats throughout California gathered in Los Angeles the first weekend of March for the California Democratic Party State Convention.
The event was a lively and at times drama-filled event as numerous candidates vied for the endorsement of the CDP delegates in attendance.
At the Convention, the California Democratic Party finalized Primary Election Endorsements for the following offices and ballot initiatives:
Governor Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown
Treasurer John Chiang
Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom
Secretary of State no recommendation
Attorney General Kamala D. Harris
Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones
Controller No recommendation
Supt. of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson
Board of Equalization District 2: Fiona Ma
