San Mateo County Democratic Party Newsletter
San Mateo County Democrats say LET'S GET DEMS ELECTED!
The California Primary is just a little over a month away! June 7th is IMPORTANT! The VOTE BY MAIL ballots go out on May 9th.
In this month's newsletter, I'm asking...what are you doing to get DEMS elected?
Attending rallies? Making Calls? Walking precincts? Donating money or time? Telling your friends? Using Social Media? Or ALL OF THOSE? We must be aggressive in the coming months.
The pundits are predicting a record turnout for the GOP here. We can't let them take hold again in our state. Their dysfunction has no place here in California.
And, across the United States there are several races that could be won by Dems with support from us! Be prepared to create a BLUE TIDALWAVE!
OUR FIRST 2016 FUNDRAISING EVENT was a HUGE success!!!
The Vinyl Room in Burlingame was an amazing host.
We had TWENTY FOUR co-sponsor candidates and activists who helped to make it such a great event!
Thanks to all who turned out and participated!
SMC DEM NEWS:
The Republicans State Convention was last month and lots of excitement there with all 3 of the GOP presidential frontrunners making an appearance. Protestors in front of the hotel made the Donald walk over a wall and up an embankment to get into the venue through the back door.
Although there was SOME violent behavior by some out of county visitors, the Burlingame Police Dept and associate law enforcement did and amazing job controlling the crowd. They should be commended for their professionalism and restraint.
On May 1st, all over California in 53 Congressional districts with approximately 4,600 candidates, the DNC caucuses were held for Hillary and Bernie delegates interested in going to the National Convention in Philly. Only 317 will actually serve as delegates, their next step will be waiting for the Primary results on June 7th. The percentages for each candidate ill be tabulated and delegates assigned according to the voter turnout for each candidate.
The opening of THE IRA RUSKIN SAN MATEO COUNTY DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS will be in July somewhere mid-peninsula. If anyone has a lead on 2000+ sq ft of space on a transit corridor (preferably El Camino Real) please let me know!
We will be having many events in the coming months, so stayed tuned for details as they come. We will be starting a regular SPEAKERS SERIES every meeting with current events, issues and candidates being presented to the attendees. I had many wonderful diverse conversations at convention with speakers to bring to you all soon!
DEMOCRATIC CLUB EVENTS AND NEWS:
If you are in a Democratic Club or are a leader in those clubs, encourage your members to become alternates or associate members of the Central Commitee. It's a great way to get more involved. As one of the levels of memberships, you can attend state conventions as a proxy OR join one of our great committees!

Getting and Staying Involved
Interaction and building of all our current Democratic Clubs is a priority. Regular reports, inviting club membership to our monthly meetings, and encouraging them to join a committee or become an alternate/associate member is important for all of us. The more, the merrier! With our newly chartered Latina/o Club and a newer club being introduced at our next meeting, we are growing stronger! Keep it up!
Another great way to support the party on a state level is to join DEM2016. *** DONATE EVERY MONTH... A one time contribution or monthly is a simple, easy great way to help keep the party strong all over California!
I want to remind everyone that as elected members of the Central Committee, it is our responsibility to be representatives of Democratic values to the people of our County--helping to educate and guide them and finding and promoting Democratic candidates at all levels of service to our community. This year’s board or associate members could become the next city council person, supervisor, assemblymember, or senator.
There are many ways to get involved with the San Mateo County Democratic Party and we invite all local Democrats to support their Party by volunteering. Please take a look at our Web page, Facebook, or Twitter to keep abreast of events or issues that may be of interest. Make sure when you’re participating in a Democratic event that you use social media to get the word out. Make everyone want to be where you are!
Help me in inviting all local Democrats to join us in keeping San Mateo County BLUE!
