The Republican Party can't keep up with the demographic, social, and political trends in America. Instead, despite their dwindling base, they exert control over the levers of law and politics to retain political power by stacking the courts, disenfranchising voters, and gerrymandering state and federal districts. The Senate filibuster is one last choke hold they will continue to use to impede progressive legislation.
