Chair's Letter - July 2014

The June 3 Primary Election has come and gone. The San Mateo County Democratic Party congratulates all local candidates for their willingness to run for and serve in public office and to the advocates of many important ballot measures for their work as well.

The July Executive Board Meeting of the California Democratic Party will be held at the Oakland Marriott in City Center the weekend of  July 11-13 in Oakland.

State Executive Board members will be conducting Party business throughout the weekend including voting on the endorsements for as many as six statewide ballot measures that will affect a range of major policy areas including health insurance rates, malpractice awards, sentencing for certain offenders, Indian Gaming Compacts, state budgetary reserve policy and a major water infrastructure bond.

A description of all of the ballot measures is available at the California Secretary of State's Web site here.

All Democrats are welcome to attend but only Executive Board members are legible to vote for endorsements.

For details and to secure observer passes please visits the California Democratic Party Web site here.

November 2014 General Election

The San Mateo County Democratic Party will begin the process of identifying a headquarters in advance of the November 2014 General Election. The target opening date for the headquarters will be after Labor Day. The headquarters will be made available to all endorsed candidates and measures and will be the focal point for campaign activity throughout San Mateo County. Be on the lookout for future notices about the headquarters opening.

Voter Registration

In addition to working in support of Democratic candidates in advance of the June Primary Election, the San Mateo County Democratic Party is sponsoring a vigorous voter registration effort throughout the county.

The Party will continue to have booths at many events in local communities but will also train interested volunteers in doing voter registration at other public sites.

Interested volunteers should contact the Party at [email protected].

The election season ahead will be exciting and as always there remains much work to do as we prepare for the next elections in November.

We invite all San Mateo County Democrats to participate in upcoming events and efforts to keep San Mateo County blue.

Democratically Yours,

David Burruto

Chair
