Subject: Summer Events and the Work Ahead

Dear Friends:

The summer is already upon us but despite the traditionally slow days of the season many significant events are happening. Not least among them is the recent rulings by the United States Supreme Court striking a portion of the Defense of Marriage Act and thereby enabling the federal government to recognize same sex marriages. 

In addition, California's Proposition 8 was vacated by the high court, enabling same sex marriages in the Golden State.

The July E-board will be held July 19-21, 2013 at the Hilton Orange County. The California Democratic Party is hosting a virtual phone bank so that activists throughout California can make a difference in the critical 16th State Senate District seat in support of Democratic Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez.

Last month, Democrats from throughout California gathered in Sacramento for the California Democratic Party's State Convention.

The fun-filled and informative event was a great success featuring trainings, workshops, and opportunities to socialize with Democrats from all parts of California.

Dear Fellow Democrats,

April is the month of the California Democratic Party annual convention in Sacramento to be held April 12-14. Delegates, volunteers, observers and elected officials from throughout California will gather to discuss our Party platform, issues on the horizon, and elect Party officers.

Also this Spring, there are two Special Elections in San Mateo County including all-mail ballot elections in the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District and the Portola Valley Elementary School District.

The California Democratic Party will hold its annual convention in Sacramento on April 12-14. Delegates, volunteers, observers, and elected officials from throughout California will gather to discuss our Party platform, issues on the horizon, and elect Party officers.

In national news, President Obama faces a challenging agenda, while locally, we have an upcoming regional meeting on March 12.

Subject: The Democratic Party keeps rolling

Dear Fellow Democrats:

Although 2013 is only a month old, the Democratic Party is already back to work.

This includes electing new leaders for the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee (DCC) at the January General Meeting. Three members of the DCC Executive Board did not seek another term. We thank former Northern Vice Chair Ashleigh Evans, former Southern Vice Chair Carole Dorshkind, and former recording Secretary Craig Patterson for their years of service.

The California Democratic Party State Convention will be held April 12-14 in Sacramento this year. Over 400 volunteers are always needed to help with credentialing and registration, as ushers, general session, and much more!
