Endorsement Information for Candidates—November 2019

The San Mateo County Democratic Party (also known as the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee, or SMC DCC) invites Democrats running for county, city, or school district office in San Mateo County to apply for the Democratic Party endorsement for the November 2019 election.

All candidates who are considering an endorsement should first review the Endorsement Process document:

Process Explanation

After reviewing the document candidates who seek the party’s endorsement must complete the online application form available here. The application must be submitted electronically by the deadline of 10:00 pm on August 14, 2019. Candidates may prepare their answers using this Word version of the form.  Submissions must still be made via the electronic form. The Word document is an aid to help in preparing answers only.

SMCDCC is holding a Candidate Orientation Program to review this process and answer questions on August 8. Specific time and place TBD.

Important Dates

• July 15- Aug. 9 - Candidates pull papers, gather signatures to qualify for the ballot
• July 22- Candidate application and questionnaire on web site
• August 8- Candidate Orientation Program
• August 9- Filing Deadline (Incumbents have until August 14 if no incumbents file)
• August 14– Candidate applications and written questionnaires are due by 10 PM
• August 28-29 – candidate interviews (other dates may be added)
• September 5 – Central Committee meets to vote on recommendations

The San Mateo County Democratic Party is meeting on Thursday, September 06, 2018 at 7:00pm to vote on endorsements for the November 2018 election. Candidates seeking endorsement have already submitted their applications. The Endorsements Committee is meeting and interviewing those candidates. And this special meeting will see that committee submit their recommendations to the entire Central Committee for approval or modification. Candidates are not required to attend this meeting, though they are welcome. Only members of the Central Committee are able to speak on the matters of endorsement. Candidates seeking endorsement are not able to speak on their own behalf, though again, they are welcome.

The San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee is pleased to announce that the following candidates and ballot measures have received the Democratic Party endorsement for the June 5, 2018 election.

June 2018 Endorsement Process

The San Mateo County Democratic Party (also known as the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee, or SMC DCC) invites Democrats running for office in San Mateo County to apply for the Democratic Party endorsement for the June 2018 election.

Candidates who seek the party's endorsement must complete the online application form available here. The application must be submitted electronically by the deadline of 10:00pm on Sunday, April 01, 2018.

Ballot Measure proponents and opponents may submit information to the endorsement committee via email at [email protected].

The San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee is pleased to announce that the following candidates and ballot measures have received the Democratic Party endorsement for the November 7, 2017 election.

The San Mateo County Democratic Party (also known as the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee, or SMC DCC) invites Democrats running for county, city, or school district office in San Mateo County to apply for the Democratic Party endorsement for the November 2017 election.

Candidates who seek the party's endorsement must complete the online application form available here. The application must be submitted electronically by the deadline of 10:00pm on August 31, 2017.  This is a NEW deadline.

Ballot Measure proponents and opponents may submit information to the endorsement committee via email at [email protected].
